Product Engineering Manager

Job Summary

The Product Engineering Manager will lead and oversee all operational activities within the product engineering department, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, industry regulations, and organizational objectives. This role involves managing both internal and external design engineering resources, fostering continuous development of engineering practices, and maintaining high standards of communication and collaboration across teams.

Essential Job Functions

• Lead and manage the product engineering department to achieve customer and regulatory expectations.
• Supervise and allocate resources for both internal and external design engineering teams.
• Continuously assess the capabilities of team members, hardware, and software, and develop growth paths aligned with organizational goals.
• Foster effective communication with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients through one-on-one meetings, presentations, and written reports.
• Develop, update, and maintain engineering guidelines and departmental procedures to ensure consistency and quality in design work.
• Support the quoting process by utilizing best practices, CAD tools, and design methodologies to evaluate feasibility and communicate technical information effectively.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to develop and manage the external supply base.
• Protect intellectual property and trade secrets by ensuring appropriate processes and protocols are in place.
• Stay knowledgeable about each customer’s specifications, standards, and engineering requirements to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction.
• Conduct necessary engineering calculations and material selection to ensure the product meets functional and performance requirements.
• Track open engineering issues and ensure their timely resolution to meet project deliverables.
• Prepare and manage the department’s annual budget.
• Actively participate in cross-functional program team meetings to ensure alignment and project success.
