Finish Carpenter Skill Requirements :
- Prepare wood or structural finishing and trimming fixtures with the aid of manual or power tools
- Estimate raw materials required for a project. Must be skilled in reading and interpreting construction plans or drawings
- Install trim on windows, baseboards and mantels
- Precision measuring, cutting and fitting are essential skills
- Hanging interior doors including shimming and leveling the door frame to insure the door opens and closes with ease
- Ability to scribe molding to fit uneven surfaces, install cope joints inside trim corners and cut complicated trim angles.
Finish Carpenter Personal Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in finish carpentry
- Additional 1 years’ experience in rough carpentry preferred
- Physical Strength: Capable of climbing on ladders and carrying at least 80 lbs.
- Physical Stamina: Endurance to spend many hours on feet or knees
- Extensive knowledge of power tools, including skill saw, miter saw and jigsaw
- Knowledge of lumber grades and material
- Personal possession of hand tools and power tools
- Valid Driver’s License and insurance for personal vehicle
