What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Manager position at Dolan Memory Care Homes?
Reports To: Director of Operations
General Description:
Under supervision of Director of Operations/Administrator provides overall supervision of all House activities. Responsibilities include scheduling, staffing, budget compliance, ordering of supplies, survey compliance, nursing services, and medical records. Interacts and engages residents throughout the day to provide a person centered care environment which is safe, clean and /meaningful for each resident and their families. Provides leadership and direction for activities, as well as general supervision and oversight to caregivers. Understands that all
behaviors have meaning and directs staff in positive and creative manner to maximize resident’s comfort and safety. Ensures meals are prepared and served in accordance with Dolan policies and practices. Complies with Residents Rights Policy.
Health Services:
1. Directs Caregivers in Performance of basic duties.
2. Maintains clinical record and ensures that records are complete and accurate.
3. Ensure the safety and security of all residents and their belongings
4. Responsible for ordering of medication and compliance of medication administration system.
5. Keep Director of Operations informed of changes or residents condition, family concerns or changes in status.
6. Maintains and actively communicates with residents physicians for benefit of residents.
7. Coordinates with other departments when a resident is in very poor health or at risk for complications and must be monitored closely to ensure adequate care.
Food Services:
1. Ensure that staff follows house procedures and state regulations in the preparation and service of meals.
2. Orders food and supplies biweekly.
3. Directs and supervise care partners in performance of their duties.
4. Maintains all documentation concerning menus, changes, recipes, tray cards etc.
5. Ensures all food storage is in compliance with all regulatory agencies.
General:
1. Practice and promote positive person centered care and customer service with residents and families.
2. Develops and implements care based on residents ISP and life story. Promotes engagement with residents and families in a positive and professional manner while supporting person centered care.
3. Maintains time cards and ensures their accuracy for payroll.
4. Expected to meet with and discipline staff using the guidelines in the policy and procedure book.
5. Expected to handle staffing issues and ensure that the house is staffed.
6. Communicates with administrative assistant to order t-shirts and office supplies.
7. Documents in communication book.
8. Attends and provides staff training sessions. Ensures that staff attends the monthly in-services.
9. Attends manager meetings once a month.
10. Makes regular rounds with care-partners to ensure resident well-being and safety.
11. Responsible for all forms, documents and charting required for admissions, transfers and discharges. Additional duties as directed by Director of Operations.
12. If the event the employee would be asked to use their vehicle or ride in a vehicle in connection with there position seat belts are to be wore at all times while riding or driving.
13. Illegal drug free, smoke and alcohol free while on premises and duty.
14. Stealing of any kind, from the resident, company, associates, and or visitors is strictly prohibited.
15. All facilities are weapon free zones, include but not limited to guns, knives or any other device which may cause harm.
Qualifications:
1. RN or LPN license in good standing
2. First Aide & CPR certified.
3. Ability to follow and provide written and verbal instructions.
4. 1 year positive work experience in supervisory capacity.
5. 3 years’ work experience in nursing and geriatric care. Experience with residents diagnosed with dementia or memory loss issues.
6. Willing and able to work non-traditional hours periodically based on the resident care needs and staffing.
7. Physically able to lift 50 lbs. or greater, stoop, bend, squat. Must be able to stand/ walk 8 to 12 hours.
