Packer / Stacker Duluth - 1st shift

JOB SUMMARY: Provide support in all production areas where needed. Package materials and products by hand, assemble and prepare cartons and containers for products. Obtain and sort products. Perform other duties in servicing production as required to maintain efficient operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Package materials and products by hand.
• Assemble cartons, clean and line packing containers.
• Obtain and sort product.
• Wrap protective material around product.
• Adhere to safety rules and regulations, good housekeeping, and sanitation practices.
• Read plainly written specifications and packing instructions.
• Take inventory counts and record on appropriate forms.
• Requires ordinary care to prevent material losses or damages.
• Fill bags or bottles by machine lever, seal.
• Set up batches of liquids or dry products.
• Label cases.
• Regular attendance on the job, dependability and reliability are required.
• Read a weight scale to meet packaging specifications.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform other duties and special tasks to service production equipment to maintain efficient production operations.
• Maintain work areas in neat and orderly manner.
• Assist with sanitation/janitorial duties when production line down.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, record information on forms.
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to follow routine repetitive tasks.
• Ability to perform heavy physical work, exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly, performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, feeling, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Sense of ordinary care to prevent material losses or damage to product.
• Ability to operate power jack equipment for material handling.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work in normal manufacturing environment. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards and dangerous chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.
• Electrical shock.
• Significant work pace/pressure.
• Proper personal protective equipment required.
• Long standing periods of time.
