What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Consumer Lending Manager position at EastRise Credit Union?
Reporting to the Consumer Lending Sales Manager, the Associate Consumer Lending Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting the Consumer Lending team while guiding the team towards optimal performance, quality, consistency, and efficiency. The Associate Consumer Loan Manager will ensure that we are following internal process
and policy, meeting underwriting guidelines, following lending authority levels, and remaining compliant with relevant state and federal regulations.

Oversee the centralized consumer underwriting process which includes supervising the consumer lending team to maximize productivity, efficiency, including hiring, training, directing job assignments, monitoring, and documenting staff performance, as needed and at least annually through the performance review process, providing coaching and ongoing feedback.

Assist in management of indirect lending program which may include vender due diligence, vendor management of ancillary lending products (GAP, Debt Protection, and others.) Stay abreast of competitors’ rates, terms and other trends relating to consumer lending; provide input for lending interest rates and update rate sheets and disclosures as needed.

Identify areas of improvement to create more efficient processes; incorporate improvement measures. Address quality and accuracy issues and provide necessary training. Ensure that underwriting standards are met, applications requests are handled appropriately, and loans are processed, closed, and funded accordingly. Make necessary recommendations to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Assist staff with procedural, regulatory, and practical info related to Consumer Lending functions. Act as technical liaison between users, vendors and Business Solutions, update documents and disclosures, perform testing and training.

Perform underwriting when needed to approve or deny consumer loan applications. Field escalated calls and help to resolve difficult and complex issues and requests. Communicate with and support members, vendors, staff, and other departments on their needs. Maintain strict confidentiality practices for the protection and care of members.

Assist with the loan reporting responsibilities up to and including board level reporting. Assist with requests for internal and external auditors and examinations as well as department budgets. Assist with research, consumer loan product recommendations and implementation.

Participate in and/or act as a technical lead and or project manager on departmental or organization wide projects. Contributes expertise in their assigned area and executes certain deliverables on the project.

Knowledge And SkillsExperience
Five years to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school equivalent to approximately 64 credit hours.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

COMPETENCIES: Must be at least 18 years of age. Favorable Background, Credit, Criminal, Bondability, and Reference Checks required. (Motor Vehicle check dependent on position.) Travel to other branches or locations may be required depending on position. Must have knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations that affect consumer loans is required. Knowledge of consumer loan policies, procedures, products, and services. Must also have strong MicroSoft Office skills including preparing spreadsheets and reports.

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must by capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise.
