Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach to join our Athletics team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. The Eckerd College Tritons are members of NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference with 16 teams competing in a variety of varsity sports.
As Assistant Coach, you will support all facets of the program including individual and team instruction and coaching, recruiting student-athletes who will succeed at Eckerd and in the conference, managing scheduling and travel, and coordinating the team’s social media efforts in collaboration with the athletic communications department.
The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach demonstrates extensive knowledge of basketball fundamentals, techniques, and strategies, and possesses knowledge of NCAA compliance rules. The incumbent must have the ability to identify, recruit, and retain competitive student-athletes and cultivate positive relationships with athletes, alumni, parents, and donors. The position frequently requires prolonged periods of moving around gymnasiums and campus facilities and frequently requires after-hours work and travel.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all men’s basketball student-athletes.
- Manage all day to day operations of the men's basketball program.
- Plan and implement daily training of men's basketball players.
- Lead and coach Eckerd's men's basketball team in contests.
- Plan and supervise team travel and meals.
- Assist the Head Coach with the recruiting process in conjunction with all NCAA, SSC, and Eckerd College rules and regulations
- Monitor the academic progress of men's basketball student-athletes and coordinates academic assistance and tutoring when necessary
- Work collaboratively with athletic communications personnel, departmental support staff and the athletic training and sports medicine personnel
- Oversee and participate in department-wide event management through assigning student workers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; at least two (2) years of experience as an assistant basketball coach in college or high school, or playing experience at the college level
- Valid driver license.
