What are the responsibilities and job description for the Budget Analyst position at Eckerd College?
With a focus on Administrative, Academic, and Student Services areas, this position performs financial analyses, budgeting, and forecasting for various College departments and supports the development and monitoring of the College's operating budget through a clear, effective and transparent process.
The Budget Analyst demonstrates an ability to analyze financial practices of the College, clearly conveying financial concepts verbally and in writing. The incumbent possesses knowledge of the principles and practices of higher education budgeting and accounting and general knowledge of the purpose, functions, and fiscal organization of a college or university budget. The ability to identify relevant and usable data sources, selecting appropriate methods of data collection and data analysis, and reporting of conclusions, implications and recommendations is also important to success in the role.

Key Responsibilities
Supports Business Office leadership in the planning process and development of the annual operating budget for the College.
Prepares and reviews monthly budget reports and variance analysis.
Reviews, analyzes, and summarizes annual departmental budget requests and base budget adjustments.
Develops and proposes new approaches and best practices to address complex financial, budget-related problems and issues.
Identifies opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings.
Collaborates with other functional areas within the Division of Business & Finance to ensure consistency of messaging to campus.
Performs ad-hoc requests and financial analyses.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, including two to four years performing work involving the preparation, justification, and analysis of a budget or budgetary program (preferably in a higher education setting).
Experience building models, reports for executive management, and analyzing large sets of data.
