Position Summary
Safely drive NAS vessels for the purpose of teaching students the methods and modes of different types of marine research and specimen collection on the waters of Tampa Bay.
Essential Functions (Other non-essential duties may be assigned)
- Drive assigned vessels to locations specified by course instructors.
- Perform routine cleaning and washing of vessels.
- Ensure boats are properly fueled before and after sessions.
- Assist passengers with boarding and de-boarding vessels.
- Ensure required safety equipment is on the vessels before sessions.
- Oversee passenger activity and ensure passenger safety.
- Support the Eckerd College Waterfront Summer Program

Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of and skill in operation a large catamaran-type boat.
- Ability to operate vessels in a safe manner.
- Knowledge of boating safety rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Ability to move and transport up to 30 pounds.
- Regular exposure to various outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalency; two years of experience operating a 32' Beachcat catamaran.
- Eckerd College Beachcat Rating Certification required
