Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and caring Music Teacher to join our team at a private Christian school that integrates a biblical worldview with an innovative STREAM approach to learning. We believe music is a vital part of developing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit.
As our Music Teacher, you will play a key role in cultivating a love for music while nurturing students' spiritual and artistic growth. You will:
- Lead engaging and developmentally appropriate music instruction that is grounded in biblical truth.

Job Responsibilities – Music Teacher
- Create and maintain a nurturing, Christ-centered classroom environment that promotes spiritual, academic, and artistic growth through music.
- Design and deliver engaging music lessons that align with biblical truth, promote character development, and support the STREAM framework—particularly through the integration of the arts.
- Foster cross-curricular connections by integrating music with other STREAM subjects, encouraging students to explore the role of music in culture, history, science, and worship.
- Use project-based learning and performance opportunities (e.g., concerts, chapel worship, musical productions) to develop students' musical skills, creativity, collaboration, and leadership.
- Assess student learning and musical growth using a variety of methods, such as performance evaluations, rubrics, written reflections, and skill demonstrations.
- Establish clear expectations for behavior and participation, maintaining a respectful and structured environment where students feel safe to express themselves musically.
- Promote literacy and communication through songwriting, musical interpretation, and verbal expression of musical ideas.
- Build professional, supportive relationships with students while modeling Christian values and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents regarding musical development, effort, and progress.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to coordinate music integration, school-wide events, chapel services, and performances.
- Participate in professional development focused on Christian education, music pedagogy, and interdisciplinary instruction.
- Encourage students to discover and develop their God-given musical gifts, supporting their growth as worship leaders, performers, and creative thinkers.
Qualifications
Education & Certification:
- Master's Degree in education - preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in education - required
- Teacher’s Certification - preferred
- ACSI Certification is required (may be obtained if hired)
Experience:
- At least two years of teaching experience
- Teaching experience at a Christian school is preferred
Communication & Relationship-Building:
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to build rapport with students
Work Ethic & Philosophy:
- Strong work ethic with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for student success and a sincere desire to positively impact their spiritual and academic growth
- Understanding of and ability to explain the Christian philosophy or biblical basis for education
Salary & Hours
Compensation for this position depends on the candidate’s degree, experience, and certification(s), the approximate range is from $20-24 per hour. This is a part-time position, 10-15 hours per week.
