Job Summary:
A licensed practical nurse (LPN) employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the direct supervision of an RN. This LPN will be responsible to supervise the front desk personnel, review accounts with inadequate financial coverage, and investigate patient complaints regarding billing.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Education:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing

Preferred:
BS in Business Administration or other related field

Experience:
Required:
Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments.

Preferred:
Previous experience in physician's office setting

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Current licensure to practice as an LPN in the State of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward

One year of supervising experience

Department Position Summary:
Ability to assess patients, selects, develop, implement and evaluate plan of care. Ability to administer pharmacological drugs as ordered, perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned.

The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He or she must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. The employee will function as an extension of the physician. Supervises, plans, develops, and organizes the various clinical and patient flow activities. Supports other practice operations under the direction of the Clinical Manager or Practice Administrator.

Supervise front office. Will review accounts with inadequate financial coverage for reimbursement of services rendered. Must have a knowledge of self-pay collections, medical terminology, understand basic ICD9 terminology and basic insurance is required. Must possess fluent computer skills including functional knowledge of Windows, Word Processing and Excel. Must be proven to possess excellent communication skills, highly organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter with strong math skills who can function efficiently and professionally with all customers, both internal and external. Work requires knowledge of general business principles usually acquired through two years post-secondary education in accounting or in a related healthcare or business field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
