What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Veterinary Technician position at Ethos Veterinary Health?
Internal Medicine Nurse
The Internal Medicine Nurse role promotes company vision, mission and core values. This individual must play a positive and active role in fostering team relationships, lead by example and communicate effectively. Nurses involved in the discipline of Internal Medicine assist with the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases, as well as manage their patients' potential discomfort and the owners' emotional needs. This balance can be a delicate one. Necessary tasks encompass a wide range of knowledge and skills.
At Premier, an Internal Medicine nurse is responsible for anticipating and meeting the needs of the Internist. Sophisticated testing and equipment often aid in the diagnostic process, and it is the responsibility of the IM nurse to set up and assist with a variety of procedures (see 'common procedures' list). An IM nurse must be familiar with a wide range of laboratory tests, and will be required to properly obtain, store and process lab samples. Many procedures require sedation or general anesthesia, and an IM nurse may be asked to monitor very high risk anesthetic patients.
In some cases chemotherapy also falls into the duties of the IM nurse.
An Internal Medicine nurse is a primary contact to the clients beginning with the initial triage/exam. An IM nurse prepares and presents estimates for procedures to be performed, updates owners regarding patient status, and presents patient discharge information. The IM nurse assists with medical record keeping, prepares invoices, manages laboratory results, and aids in patient scheduling.
