As a Veterinary Technician in the Critical Care department your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Partnering with DVM's in the ER & ICU on triage, patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures, assisting in maintaining detailed medical records and charts, and understanding when to alert the DVM on patient statuses
- Performing nursing care for critical cases, while consistently evaluating your patients
- Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient assessment, executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events, surgical assisting for minor (non-specialty) procedures, placing IV catheters, urinary catheters and central lines, obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates
- Advocating for patient and client care at all times
- Communicating with clients for hospital updates, rechecks, reviewing test results, financial updates and general questions
- Able to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
- Possess a positive outlook and are able to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Passion for providing the highest quality in patient care and the ability to deliver exceptional client service.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in an ER/Specialty care setting required.
- CVT or VTS preferred but not required.
