Description
Performs a series of responsible, complex technical-clerical tasks as part of the payroll management office; prepares, processes, and maintains payroll documents while performing paraprofessional accounting and/or finance duties; provides payroll and benefits billing information to employees/retirees.
Qualifications
Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
- Five (5) years of progressively more responsible payroll experience related to full-cycle payroll administration and accounting, two (2) years of which shall be at a level requiring independence.
- Knowledge of general payroll rules, procedures, and accounting practices.
- Knowledge of FCPS regulations and applicable state and federal benefits and tax laws.
- Strong computational skills to deal quickly and accurately with quantitative information.
- Proficiency in the use of computers, related technology, and software applications to collect, process, and analyze data.
- Good time management skills and ability to focus on details.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, tact, and initiative.
- Excellent human relations skills and ability to establish and maintain successful cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Some college courses in accounting/finance.
