Job Description: The Biology Department is looking for eight (8) student workers in the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters for BIOL 366 Human Gross Anatomy Laboratory course. The laboratory-teaching assistant student worker must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in biology major or related majors/programs at Gannon University. The laboratory-teaching assistant will be responsible for assisting lab instructors in performing teaching or teaching-related duties in BIOL 366. Primary responsibilities include:
Job Description: The Biology Department is looking for eight (8) student workers in the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters for BIOL 366 Human Gross Anatomy Laboratory course. The laboratory-teaching assistant student worker must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in biology major or related majors/programs at Gannon University. The laboratory-teaching assistant will be responsible for assisting lab instructors in performing teaching or teaching-related duties in BIOL 366. Primary responsibilities include:
1. Dissection of human cadavers, from head to toe and from skin to bone, as well as preparation of human cadavers for dissection at the start of the semester.
2. Help instructors set up, proctor, and grade lab practical exams and a lab practical exam during finals week (typically on Thursday of finals week).
3. Follow all safety guidelines at all times in the laboratory, and instruct and enforce these guidelines for all students in the laboratory.
4. Promptly relay any problems encountered with the laboratory sessions to the supervising faculty member, and report equipment maintenance or room maintenance problems to the supervising faculty member.
5. Set up equipment and specimens before each laboratory session.
6. Be available and professional to students during official laboratory periods and be prepared to help students with questions during the laboratory period.
7. Lead one or two open lab and dissection lab sections per week. Be available and professional to students during these sessions and be prepared to help students with questions during these sessions.
8. Properly package human material into biohazard bags and prepare the dissected cadavers for transport at the end of the finals week each semester.
8. Clearly and fully understand the material to be covered in the lab session, how to handle it in the laboratory, and how it is related to the lectures.
9. Attend meetings scheduled by the supervising faculty member.
10. Clean up the laboratory at the end of each session.
11. Complete time entry online biweekly before the deadline.
The pay rate of this position is $10.00/hour, up to 5-7 hours/week during the Fall and Spring semesters.

1. Must have earned at least a grade of B in both BIOL 365 and BIOL 366.
2. Must be willing to work on the weekends during the semester and during finals week.
Please Note: If you haven’t been previously contacted by the Biology Department Chairperson / Human Gross Anatomy lab coordinator, this position is NOT for you.

Physical Demands
1. Moving, positioning, and adjusting both human cadavers, and the tanks in which the cadavers are stored.
2. Standing and bending for prolonged period as per the requirement of the dissection of the cadavers
