What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager position at Gothic Landscape?
*Position manages purchasing for all of CA, but reports to Riverside office!*
Responsible for the purchasing operations of the company and for the managing the purchasing department. Negotiates with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, and services used by the company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Ensures purchasing team negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee. Manager may be required to personally negotiate as well.
- Establishes Purchasing Policies and ensure compliance.
- Manages administration of department.
- Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate with assistance from purchasing team.
- Examines bids and ensures proper awards are made.
- Establishes account/credit and terms.
- Materials management: anticipating and planning the materials required for a production process; obtaining the best value for purchased materials and ensure supplies are available when and where required; dealing with day-to-day material shortages, price increases, issues, etc.
- Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time period.
- Works closely with Operations Department to ensure proper service from the purchasing department.
- Review vendor statements and coordinates with accounts payable to maintain a current pay status with vendors.
- Produces timely and accurate month end reports and provides to the branch controller and corporate.
- Attend monthly branch PC meetings to audit and adjust vendor commitments per project.
- Review new job setup process, auditing for completeness and accuracy.
- Attend branch pre-job meetings to address budget discrepancies.
- Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws.
- Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to display strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, etc.
- Proficiency with computers and software, including: Timberline and Microsoft Office.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Annual Salary: $70,000 - $85,000
