What are the responsibilities and job description for the MDT Coordinator position at Harris County?

Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the MDT Coordinator is responsible for facilitating Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings designed to coordinate services for survivors of child sex trafficking.

Duties & Responsibilities 
  • Coordinates the immediate post-crisis response with the legal guardian, survivor’s advocate, law enforcement, District Attorney’s office, therapy providers, placement providers, victim service providers, Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) caseworkers, Juvenile probation staff and DFPS Special Investigators
  • Gathers, completes, and arranges new assessments for case planning
  • Balances the needs of partner agencies with different goals in regards to the survivor
  • Develops and maintains records management system to provide proper evaluation, control, and documentation of assigned programs and develops a multi-disciplinary case-planning document to guide services among agencies
  • Develops and maintains a continuum of survivor specific services for minor and young adult clients. 
  • Maintains regular contact between multi-disciplinary meetings with law enforcement, Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), juvenile probation, therapy and placement providers, advocate agencies and legal guardians
  • Ensures all parties are working in congruence even during emergencies. 
  • Attends Rapid Response Team (RRT) meetings to ensure a smooth handoff from crisis response to the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinator
  • Coordinates the ongoing response with survivor’s advocate, law enforcement, District Attorney’s office, therapy providers, placement providers, victim service providers, DFPS caseworkers, Juvenile probation staff and DFPS Special Investigators through facilitating multi-disciplinary staffing
  • Acts as a child sex trafficking subject matter expert for the Houston/Harris County region and a central point of contact for coordinating services for this high need population
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field.

  • Minimum (3) years full-time paid work experience working with children in youth-service agencies such as Department of Family and Protective Services, Harris County Protective Services for Children and Adults, The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD or Juvenile Probation.

  • Minimum (1) year full-time paid work experience participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings with at risk youth in either a juvenile justice, mental health or child welfare setting.

Additional Requirements 

  • Must successfully complete the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) training assessments within six (6) months of employment and maintain yearly certifications thereafter.

  • Successfully complete the Child Sexual Exploitation Identification Tool (CSE-IT) and Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) training within six months of employment.

  • Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Case Management Software.

  • Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance is required.

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice. 
  • One year experience providing services to youth and families in a grant funded program
  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Licensed Social Worker (LBSW)
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese 

Salary Range: 

  • $49,712.00--$58,427.20 (Annually)

  • Based on 26 Pay Periods 

Work Hours:

  • Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm /Weekends (if necessary)

  • Plus Mileage Reimbursement

  • Grant-Funded

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
