What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Health Care Center for the Homeless?
Covid-19 Protocol:
As part of its continued efforts to maintain a safe workplace for employees, Health Care Center for the Homeless dba Orange Blossom Family Health requires that all newly hired employees be fully vaccinated (as defined by the CDC) against the coronavirus by the first day of employment as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Position Summary: The Medical Assistant will provide patient care under the direct supervision of the medical provider and lead clinical staff support.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
1. Provide necessary support to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and support staff
2. Accurately record patient health history information and vital signs into the electronic record
3. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by medical providers
4. Assist providers as needed with procedures and referrals
5. Educate patients regarding diagnosis, medications, treatments, and testing
6. Contact patients as necessary regarding pending appointments, results, and patient concerns
7. Assist staff as needed to ensure uninterrupted work flow
8. Ensure supplies are available in each room, and are being used properly
9. Schedule follow-up appointments for patients seen on day of service
10. Obtain pertinent health information and transfer information to EHR
11. This position’s duties will be coordinating participation in at least one large testing event annually; outreach in the community to raise awareness and build community partner list to increase testing opportunities; assist with the development of program materials; help recruit program participants; help recruit Community Engagement Group members.
12. Follows all policies & procedures of the organization.
13. Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
● Registered/Certified Medical Assistant in state of Florida-must be achieved within 6 months of employment
● BLS Certified
● Cross trained in back and front office
● Phlebotomy skills
● Basic computer skills
