With over 400 employees in Southern Colorado, you would be joining a mighty team of support and administrative staff, case managers, clinicians, physicians, nurses, and others in our efforts to improve the health and well-being of our community.
We are expanding and looking for a PRN Crisis Clinician to join our Crisis Services team located at 1310 Chinook Avenue, Pueblo, Colorado 81001. This specific position will be expected to work the Friday graveyard shift 7 pm-7 am on-site with the option to work other shifts that may become available.
As an essential component of our mental health services team, a Crisis Clinician plays a vital role in providing immediate and compassionate support to individuals experiencing acute psychological distress. This position requires a professional who is adept at performing risk assessments, developing crisis intervention strategies, determining the need for a Higher Level of Care, and connecting clients with appropriate resources for ongoing support. Working in a fast-paced and often high-pressure environment, our Crisis Clinicians must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of mental health issues, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in emergencies.
Crisis Clinician Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for individuals in crisis
- Develop and implement crisis intervention plans
- Provide immediate psychological support and counseling
- Coordinate with emergency services, including police and medical personnel
- Document all client interactions and treatment plans accurately
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss ongoing care
- Follow up with clients to ensure continuity of care
- Offer support and training to family members and caregivers
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in crisis intervention
- Manage and de-escalate high-stress situations effectively
- Advocate for clients’ needs and rights within the system
Physical requirements include the following:
- Operating in a fast-paced, professional office environment, routinely requiring the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.
- Potential for contact with blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases, as well as potential for contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals.
- Potential for interaction with persons who are mentally ill, disabled, elderly and/or emotionally upset.

Qualifications
What We Are Looking For—The Must-Haves
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
- Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Psychologist or License Candidate.
- Completion of the BHA Crisis Training within 6 months of hire date.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and mental health assessment tools
- Basic understanding of community resources and referral processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
- Empathy and strong ethical standards
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends
