What You’ll Be Doing:

As Group Publisher, you’ll be responsible for the continued success of High Plains News’ newspaper portfolio and for launching a digital product that supports and enhances our core newspaper offerings. This role blends leadership, community engagement, and strategic growth, ensuring our group of newspapers thrives in a competitive media landscape while evolving to reach more readers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Newspaper-Centric Growth Leadership Across Our Group
• Develop and implement strategies to drive growth and audience expansion across our group of community newspapers.
• Maintain and enhance our reputation as a trusted local news source, focusing on editorial quality and readership engagement for each paper.
• Build a vision for growth that respects each newspaper’s heritage while exploring complementary digital opportunities.
• Financial Stewardship and Revenue Expansion
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to support both newspaper and digital growth across the group.
• Drive revenue through traditional streams like newspaper subscriptions and advertising, while creating new revenue from digital subscriptions and online advertising as our digital product grows.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing to ensure sustainable growth across all newspapers and digital offerings.
• Editorial Excellence and Content Innovation
• Lead our editorial teams in delivering high-quality, relevant content that keeps readers engaged and informed across the group.
• Develop content strategies that cater to loyal newspaper readers while introducing digital content that complements and enhances our brand.
• Uphold High Plains News’ commitment to integrity, accuracy, and community-focused reporting.
• Community and Industry Presence Across Our Regions
• Serve as the face of High Plains News, building relationships with readers, community leaders, advertisers, and industry partners across our group of newspapers.
• Actively participate in community events, forums, and partnerships that reinforce our role as a trusted local news source.
• Ensure our newspapers reflect and serve the unique needs of their individual communities.
• Digital Product Expansion to Support Newspaper Success
• Lead the launch of High Plains News’ digital product, building an online presence that complements our core newspaper offerings.
• Establish a digital subscription model and content strategies that attract new audiences without compromising the quality and focus of our newspapers.
• Use data-driven insights to develop digital offerings that enhance our group’s readership and support our broader growth goals.

Qualifications You Bring:

• Publishing/Media Leadership Experience – Proven success in a publishing or media leadership role, ideally with a strong background in managing multiple newspapers and audience growth.
• Revenue & Business Development – Expertise in budgeting, revenue generation, and business planning, with experience growing newspaper revenue and transitioning to digital where it supports newspaper success.
• Community-Minded Leadership – Strong communication skills, with a passion for leading a team and building relationships with our loyal newspaper readers and communities.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
