Essential Job Functions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all freight damage, loss, and shortage claims from initial report to final resolution.
- Initiate, track, and manage claims with carriers, working to ensure timely and favorable outcomes.
- Gather and meticulously organize all necessary documentation, including bill of ladings, proof of delivery, photographs, inspection reports, and sales orders.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with clients regarding claim status, requirements, and resolutions.
- Collaborate with internal operations, warehousing, and transportation teams to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Process claim payments and credits accurately, ensuring proper accounting procedures are followed.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date claim records in the company's system.
- Analyze claims data to identify trends and report findings to management for continuous improvement initiatives.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in claims management, logistics, transportation, or a related administrative role, preferably within a 3PL environment.
- Strong understanding of freight claims processes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with logistics software (TMS, WMS) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused approach.
