The Inn at Perry Cabin is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Director of Human Resources who has a profound interest in hospitality, a strong desire to build industry knowledge, and a drive to meet the highest standards in our profession.


The Director of Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop and coordinate the policies and procedures of all functional areas of Human Resources. This position will ensure legal compliance on both the federal and state level as it relates to Human Resources law and applicable legislation. The Director of Human Resources will recruit, hire, train and lead a Human Resources team of three who will be a resource to Inn at Perry Cabin and Links at Perry Cabin crew members in their career development.


Essential Job Functions


Recruiting (Domestic and International):

  • Attracts, hires, and retains staff who will exceed the standards of guest satisfaction as defined by Preferred Hotels, Forbes Travel Guide and Inn at Perry Cabin and Links at Perry Cabin leadership teams
  • Oversees recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and screening of all candidates for employment across all hotel and golf course divisions.
  • Subject matter expert in International worker recruitment processes


Training & Development:

  • Oversees strategy and execution of learning and development of all crew members
  • Assists Department Managers in developing succession plans
  • Oversees documentation of employee training and management of training records in compliance with state and federal agency guidelines and current legislation
  • Ensures successful execution of international worker training programs in partnership with the responsible division heads.


Employee Housing:

  • Overall responsibility as on-site housing management contact for successful acclimation of new residents; coordination of maintenance/housekeeping needs; inventory of necessary supplies provided by the company
  • Develops and administers housing and transportation resources for all interns and H-2B employees
  • Ensures rent obligations are met by employees
  • Oversees pre-arrival and inspections of employee housing
  • Resolves any resident concerns including conflicts, injuries, maintenance and housekeeping needs.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Administers the wage and salary system through ADP, analyzes wage and salary data to maintain a competitive compensation plan, and recommends modifications to the Benefits & Compensation Committee
  • Oversight of the insurance and benefits programs as directed by the corporate office including Group Health Insurance, 401(k), short and long-term disability, Workers' Compensation, Section 125 Cafeteria Plan, C.O.B.R.A., Family & Medical Leave, Employee Assistance Program, and unemployment claims.


Employee Relations:

  • Works with Department Managers to prevent/solve personnel problems and advises them of company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits
  • Mediates conflict among employees and between employees and supervisors
  • Counsels employees regarding workplace issues and personal issues that can affect work performance
  • Administers Resort-wide performance appraisal system to insure fairness and promptness of employee appraisals
  • Monitors departmental employee disciplinary actions taken in order to insure fairness and in compliance with state and federal law
  • Works with Department Managers to develop and implement employee incentives and recognition systems
  • Oversees Resort-wide communications to employees
  • Oversees planning and implementation of special events throughout the year; directs HR activities calendar of events


Human Resources Administration:

  • Develops, maintains, and interprets company personnel policies, standards, and procedures; and consults legal counsel to ensure compliance with federal and state laws
  • Oversees maintenance and updating of Employee Handbook and Benefits offerings as directed by corporate office
  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and administration of records systems for: employee personnel files, employee medical files, unemployment compensation claims, regulatory compliance reports and employee training records
  • Oversees the creation and utilization of job descriptions for all positions
  • Meets regularly with Executive Committee regarding human resources policies and practices and provides updates and recommendations regarding changes to federal and state regulations (FSLA, Non-discrimination, Visas for international workers, etc.)
  • Respond to legal requests for information or claims
  • Plans and develops annual financial and operational budgets and goals for Human Resources and monitors performance within those metrics.


Other duties may be assigned by the Managing Director of Perry Cabin Resorts and Golf.

Education and/or Experience


  • Four or more years in Human Resources leadership position in a four or five diamond property hotel with over 200 employees.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of successfully managing in an upscale hotel environment.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed.
  • Proven leadership skills which support an environment of employee growth and development, interdepartmental teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
  • Strong collaboration skills and influential leadership style
  • Negotiation skills
  • Must be service and detail oriented, possessing a friendly approachable demeanor and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency; to include Microsoft Office and Windows
  • The ability to sit and utilize telephone/computer for an extended period.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as needed to meet the business demands.
