Position Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Citrix VDI Architect to support the development and maintenance of a secure Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) in compliance with federal and industry standards. This position offers a fully remote work setup, engaging in a high-impact project environment focused on system stability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Project Scope:
The architect will be responsible for building, optimizing, and supporting a secure Citrix-based VDI environment, with additional responsibilities involving Windows infrastructure. This role includes technical leadership, structured problem solving, and mentoring internal system administrators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for Citrix/XenApp environments.
- Monitor and manage VDI platforms using tools such as NetScaler and ControlUp.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the entire VDI stack.
- Ensure server platforms are secure and up to date with patches and updates.
- Support XenDesktop Broker, VMware applications, and Citrix App Layering.
- Collaborate with helpdesk and infrastructure teams on end-user issues.
- Attend project meetings and report on VDI-related technical updates.
- Act as technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Citrix and VDI.
- Deploy and maintain Microsoft infrastructure services: AD, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, WSUS, and Group Policy.
- Deliver one-on-one or team-based technical training to system administrators.
- Apply structured problem solving to identify root cause and implement resolutions in a mission-critical environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive hands-on experience with:
- Citrix XenDesktop and XenServer
- VMware administration
- Microsoft Windows Server infrastructure
- Citrix App Layering
- Proficiency with monitoring tools like NetScaler and ControlUp.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting VDI system issues.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working in secure or compliance-focused technical environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Workflow analysis and process improvement experience.
- Knowledge of system compliance frameworks (e.g., CUI, NIST).
- Experience in developing and updating VDI support processes.
- Training or mentoring background with technical teams.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- 5 years of professional experience supporting enterprise-level Citrix and Windows environments.
Certifications:
Required: Citrix Administration Certification
Preferred: Additional certifications in Microsoft, VMware, or related technologies
