Job Description
Johnson County's Department of Human Resources is looking for a dynamic Human Resources Partner to join our team. The successful candidate will provide HR Generalist support to the Mental Health Department in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, compensation and classification, employee development, general HR administration and special projects. First review of applications will begin on March 8, 2024.
The HR Partner:
• Screens, recruits, and interviews applicants for employment and administers employment tests if appropriate. Researches and recommends effective recruitment sources and advertising. Utilizes social media and other innovative recruitment tools. Ensures recruitment and employment activities are in compliance with government regulations and county policies and procedures.
• Assists with the implementation and communication of policies and programs. Maintains confidentiality of all information.
• Assists managers and employees in resolving employee relations concerns. This may include meeting with employees, interpreting policy and procedure, counseling managers and recommending actions to address and resolve issues. Encourages problem resolutions through chain of command. Facilitates exit interviews, dispute procedures and unemployment claims.
• Assists the Learning and Development Team to coordinate, organize, and ensure delivery of employee training events and programs.
• Assists with the coordination and administration of compensation programs ensuring compliance with county policies and procedures. Under supervision studies, researches and analyzes jobs within the county and prepares draft job descriptions and evaluates jobs, recommends appropriate pay grade and prepares documentation of the evaluation. Assists in the administration of performance appraisals. Responds to salary surveys. Acts as first level contact for customer questions regarding compensation questions.
Job Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business or Public Administration, or closely related field of study; one or more years of experience in Human Resources; and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Experience can substitute for education.
Preferred Job Requirements
Experience in a public sector capacity and a master’s degree are preferred. One year of leading, directing, supervising, or coordinating the work of others. PHR/SPHR/IPMA-SCP certification or other relevant Human Resources certification also preferred.
