Our construction‑related client is seeking a hands‑on Corporate Controller who excels in accuracy, detailed financial oversight, and consistent execution. This role is deeply operational and ideal for someone who enjoys being directly involved in the work-managing the close process, digging into numbers, resolving issues, and ensuring reliable job‑costing practices in a construction environment.Pay range: $130,000 - $155,000.00Key Responsibilities Month‑End Close & ReportingLead the full monthly close cycle, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and financials are delivered on schedule.Produce timely and accurate financial statements supported by strong documentation.Prepare monthly reporting packages for leadership review.Construction Accounting, Job Costing & WIPOversee job cost tracking and WIP reporting to ensure dependable revenue and margin results.Work closely with operations teams to validate percent‑complete metrics, cost forecasting, committed spend, and change‑order impacts.Troubleshoot discrepancies in WIP and maintain accurate labor costing, including wage rates, burden, and allocated fringe components.AR/AP & Working Capital ManagementManage billing accuracy, AR follow‑up, and collection support.Ensure timely, accurate AP processing with clean cutoffs.Strengthen controls around cash disbursements and cash‑flow visibility.Controls, Audit & ComplianceMaintain and enhance internal controls and compliance with accounting standards.Prepare audit‑ready schedules and support external partners including auditors, lenders, and tax professionals.Manage documentation for lender reporting requirements.Provide daily direction for the accounting and payroll teams with a focus on consistent processes and deadlines.Oversee payroll accuracy, time‑entry workflows, job coding, and required accruals.Develop team members through clear expectations and hands‑on guidance.Priority:A defined, functioning close calendar is in place and improving.Balance sheet accounts are reconciled thoroughly and consistently.WIP reporting becomes reliable for both internal and lender use.A documented list of AR and WIP issues exists with active resolution plans.QualificationsRequired:5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction.Prior experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller.Strong proficiency in job costing, WIP, month‑end close, and reconciliations.Advanced Excel skills.High level of ownership, urgency, and attention to detail.Strong follow‑through and accountability.Enjoys hands‑on close and reconciliation work.Comfortable challenging details with project teams.Calm, steady, and dependable under pressure.Able to operate effectively without a large support staff.Preferred:Experience with construction systems such as Sage, or Procore.
