What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Counselor position at LEXINGTON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY?
Lexington Christian Academy in MA seeks a full-time School Counselor for the 2023-2024 School Year. This role oversees and plans for the mental health needs and general well being of the LCA community in collaboration with the administrative team and additional counseling staff. Counselors provide essential assessment and support services for LCA students and referrals to outside counseling or therapy services as needed. Counselors also teach mental health and well being classes for all grades (i.e. anxiety, social media demands, self-care etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION: A Master's Degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is required. Current Massachusetts professional license in Counseling, Social Work, or mental health are strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE:- 2 years experience working as a counselor or advisor in a school setting.
SKILLS:- Knowledge of student academic support processes involving IEP, 504
- Knowledge and training in triage counseling
- Ability to handle student documentation procedures (using Magnus or similar Health Database)
Ability to network with external counseling resources- Team-oriented, customer service oriented
- Passion for LCA’s mission and love of kids
