About the Role
LHH is seeking a highly motivated and analytically driven Merchant/Buyer to join our client's retail team on a 6-month contract. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in retail buying and merchandising, a sharp eye for style and trends, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support cross-functional teams to drive product strategy and execution.
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer insights to inform buying decisions.
- Manage Open to Buy and apply retail mathematics to optimize inventory and profitability.
- Collaborate with planning, marketing, and design teams to align product assortments with brand vision.
- Monitor performance across vertical retail and omni-channel platforms.
- Make data-informed decisions and take calculated risks to drive business growth.
- Ensure product selections reflect current style and color trends with an athletic sensibility.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in a merchant or buying role within the retail industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or Fashion Merchandising.
- Mastery of retail mathematics and Open to Buy principles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data across multiple channels.
- Experience in vertical retail and omni-channel environments is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional team settings.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to decision-making.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
