Job Summary
The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Animal Control Officer with Liberty County Animal Services. This position is responsible for enforcing various City/County ordinances and State laws pertaining to animal care and treatment.
Liberty County Animal Services is located on Lee Place Rd. in Hinesville (off of Airport Rd.). Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Will also work a rotating on-call shift for after-hours calls (evenings & weekends). Major Job Duties
Responds to calls from citizens.
Investigates reports of animal cruelty.
Prepares and files incident reports.
Interprets laws and ordinances and serves citations.
Impounds stray animals.
Provides aid to sick or injured animals.
Responds to animal bite reports.
Answers phone lines and processes complaints.
Records animal intakes.
Prepares court cases; attends and testifies in court.
Assists Kennel Technicians with animal care/cleaning duties as needed.
Performs on-call duty after hours as assigned.
Performs other related duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Minimum Qualifications
Required Knowledge - - Local ordinances, state and federal laws pertaining to animal care and control.

- Conducting investigations Minimum Qualifications - - High school diploma or equivalent
- More than 2 years of related experience
- Possession of a valid Georgia driver's license with an acceptable driving history Physical Demands
- Typically performed while sitting at a desk or table while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, or stooping.
- Frequently lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and interacts with animals.
- Typically performed in an office, stockroom, animal shelters, and outdoors. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, aggressive animals, and occasional cold or inclement weather.
- Work requires use of protective devices such as masks, googles, and gloves. Salary & Benefits
