Mental Health Technician

Schedule:  Primarily second shift, some weekend shifts required

Shift Differential:  Eligible for shift differential

Provides monitoring direct care services at the CCSU 24 hour. Mental Health Technicians are responsible for ensuring safety of residents and maintaining a therapeutic milieu. In addition Mental Health Technicians respond to crisis calls, processes paperwork related to various evaluations and interact with individuals walking into the facility seeking crisis services.

Essential Functions:

1. Supervise residents ensuring they are safe and secure at all times
2. Implement milieu management system
3. Orient clients to the unit and ensure clients belongings are searched and secured with client present
4. Document residential daily activities
5. Take phone referrals, conduct admission screens and complete admission materials
6. Conduct psycho-ed groups and recreational activities
7. Assist residents in utilizing acceptable coping skills
8. Assist with general cleanliness of the facility
9.  medication administration
10. Complete CPR/First Aid, de-escalation/crisis management, and other trainings offered by the CCSU to effectively provide services to residents

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Must have or obtain certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
