What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dance Instructor position at Lisle Park District?
The Lisle Park District Dance teacher instructs students on dance techniques and styles. Provides self-enrichment activities and teaches professional dance performance skills. Hours vary by class schedule.
Responsibilities include:
- Understands, accepts, and abides by the District’s philosophy and mission statement in all his/her dance activities.
- Develops daily lesson plans that provide for differentiation and ongoing assessment.
- Instructs students in ballet, ballroom, tap, and other forms of dancing.
- Drills pupils in execution of dance steps.
- May teach theory and practice of dance notation.
- May choreograph and direct dance performance.
- May teach history of dance.
- Explains and demonstrates techniques and methods of regulating movements of body to musical or rhythmic accompaniment.
- Creates a positive classroom environment which supports engaged student learning.
- Arrives punctually, be prepared for each day, and maintains regular attendance.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 16 yrs. of age.
- Experience teaching dance to young students
- Must be able to demonstrate various forms of dance, including but not limited to ballet, ballroom, tap, and other forms of dancing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and other staff.
- Ability to follow direction and work independently.
- Understanding and ability to deliver quality customer service.
- Able to lift and move up to 20lbs.
- Able to perform duties which include lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, dancing
