This summer position will create and facilitate summer recreation activities for kids and families participating in events at Crazy Mountain Ranch. Kids Outdoor Pursuits Instructors will be part of a hospitality focused organization providing experiential adventures in one of Montana’s mountainous ranch settings!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate outdoor recreation activities for kids between the ages of 5-12 in various programs.
- Design and implement lessons and games to around the Montana ecosystems using provided resources.
- Motivating and building an interest with outdoor group games, hiking, water exploration, adventures in nature.
- Responsible for safety and security of all kids participating in designed on property programs.
- Responsible for daily setup and clean-up of activities.
- Attending all required and necessary staff training and professional development events.
- Maintain relationships and communication with families, coworkers, and management staff.
- Potential facilitation of overnight on-property camping trips.

Working with children
- Able to build rapport with and empower kids to learn and grow out of their comfort zones to experience play based environments in Montana.
- Can handle unexpected behavioral or emergency situations during camp hours with aid of management as well as genuinely enjoy teaching and playing with children.
Customer Service
- Maintains a personable and professional attitude while interacting with all campers and parents/guardians.
Self-motivated
- Prioritizes knowledge of Montana and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem as it relates to leading weekly themed camps and events for kids.
Qualifications:
- Background in informal or experiential learning, summer camp, or outdoor recreation.
- An undergraduate degree preferred, in processing of earning, or combination of experience and education.
- Enthusiasm and experience working with kids ages 5-12.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Consistently available to work all shifts which include weekends and holidays.
- Commit to working the full summer season from training beginning in late May to the season end in August.
Working Conditions:
This position will be 80% outdoors and 20% indoors. Must be able to work in all-weather events specific to high mountain environments including, but not limited to, extreme heat and rain.
When in the office the work environment is characterized as that found in a typical office environment, with moderate temperatures and noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires walking and hiking; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 7 hours in length.
- Must be able to carry a backpack with safety equipment, necessary gear, and teaching materials.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a regular and continuous basis.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, running, and repetitive motions.
