Role Description & Primary Duties
The Stress Analyst performs the structural analysis of our Electric Propulsion Unit components. The role involves performing thermo-mechanical analyses (including static, fatigue, damage tolerance, vibration, dynamics) using classical hand calculations, Finite Element Methods, and other toolsets as required, in accordance with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and perform structural analyses of motor components using classical analytical methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to optimize for weight, strength, and life or other functional requirements.
- Experiment with and analyze different materials, manufacturing processes, design tolerances, and other factors in the developmental process.
- Prepare and approve analysis reports and present results during project reviews.
- Drive the development of technical and certification requirements for Electric Propulsion Units for aviation applications, and the definition of test program requirements for validation and compliance.
- Help establish clearly documented structural analysis requirements, methods, tools, and FEM techniques across the company.
- Cooperate with other departments through the whole life cycle of the product
Requirements
- Higher technical education (Mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related equivalent)
- At least 5 years of experience with static, fatigue, damage tolerance & FEM analysis of aerospace, turbomachinery, or spacecraft structures, preferably in a product development environment
- In-depth understanding of loading scenarios, free body diagrams, structural behavior of aircraft propulsion system components
- Experience in metallic and composite structural analysis using classical analysis methods
- Practical experience using Finite Element Analysis, ANSYS preferred, for metallic and composite analysis – including static, dynamic, and thermal analyses.
- Experience performing damage tolerance analysis using software such as Nasgro and Darwin
- Experience with aerospace validation and certification processes.
- Sound technical knowledge of electric machine design is a plus.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Passion for advancing sustainable air transport electric propulsion solutions.

This position's approximate base salary range is $110,000 - $140,000 annually, depending on experience.
