The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is recruiting for a Light Rail Operations Control Center Chief. The Light Rail Operations Control Center Chief is responsible for directing and coordinating the control room functions and monitoring the work of Controllers in the Operations Control Center. The Chief ensures 24-hour coverage as well as coordinates service disruption strategies between all mode operations of the Control Center, to include Light Rail, and on a limited basis Bus, and Metro. This position will work directly with Controllers and external agencies to mitigate all reported safety and customer service-related issues promptly and safely.
This position is located in Baltimore City, Maryland.
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years experience in the operation of a mass transit system and/or related operations that required the resolution of operational problems related to scheduled service, equipment failure, inclement weather, or other service disruptions. One year of the required experience must have involved supervisory or program management responsibilities. . *At least two (2) years of the required experience must have involved working in a control room environment monitoring and managing rail or bus services.

1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Management or a related field may be substituted for the experience at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of the required experience, for up to two years of the required non-supervisory experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

1. Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
