Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant compiles financial information, processes journal entries, and reconciles reports and financial data for our security business unit. This role ensures the accuracy of specific general ledger accounts including fixed assets, accounts payable, prepaid expenses and various accruals. Familiarity with and an awareness of the laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function are required to ensure compliance with this position.

This role is designated as a hybrid role which includes working at least 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in one of our main offices located in Deerfield, IL, or Oak Creek, WI to foster better collaboration, connection, and innovation.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Regularly provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
• Prepares financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from departments and subsidiaries.
• Reconciles, on a monthly basis, various balance sheet account reconciliations including accounts payable, prepaid expenses, etc.
• Maintain fundamental understanding of all general accounting systems and functions, and continually evaluate processes and look for opportunities to improve, simplify and/or automate.
• Assist with corporate reporting requirements.
• Prepare consolidation of entity financials in the financial reporting system. Eliminate intercompany accounts.
• Updates, on a monthly basis, the fixed assets ledger including all additions and deletions as well as records the expense for depreciation of these assets. Maintains supporting documentation for this ledger and ensures it reconciles to the general ledger.
• Keep abreast of new or changing relevant accounting pronouncements.
• Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Seek simplification and improvements in processes and procedures, while maintaining documentation of all responsibilities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
• 5 years of experience required in a large corporation and/or public accounting.
• Strong technical accounting skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, specifically Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Public Accounting experience is a plus.
• International Accounting experience is a plus.
