X-Ray Technologist (Contract)

Full-Time | 40 hrs/week | Day Shift
Contract Start: Mid-February – End of May / Mid-June
Overview
We’re hiring an ARRT-certified X-Ray Technologist for a high-volume outpatient orthopedic-focused setting in Wausau, WI. This is a contract-only opportunity offering excellent pay, a consistent weekday schedule, and modern, easy-to-use equipment.
You’ll work in a collaborative environment with strong support for patient transfers and trauma cases—never alone.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform general diagnostic X-ray exams across three Carestream-equipped rooms
- Handle 50–80 exams per day (each scan counts as an exam; some patients require multiple views)
- Support providers by ensuring the correct imaging is available and completed on time
- Work with Greenway EHR and Philips Carestream PACS
- Assist with film tracking and occasional background documentation tasks
- Participate in two half-day trauma clinics per week, including potential polytrauma cases
- Safely assist with patient transfers using Hoyer lifts, spin discs, and stand-assist devices
- Transfers occur periodically (approx. 1 Hoyer patient/week)
- Always completed with 2–3 staff members
- Image a mixed patient population:
- Strong ortho volume (hips, knees, shoulders)
- ~25% pediatric patients (mostly school-aged; occasional infants)
Schedule
- Five 8-hour shifts, scheduled between 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- If a patient arrives at 5:00 PM, techs may stay up to 30 minutes max to complete scans
- No call, no weekends
- 40 hours/week guaranteed
Required Qualifications
- ARRT (X-Ray) certification
- Wisconsin State Radiologic Technologist License
- Ability to assist with patient transfers as part of a team
Preferred (Not Required)
- BLS certification
- Orthopedic imaging experience
