What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Parents position at Milton Hershey School?
Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world's best private schools, providing students in pre-K through 12th grade from disadvantaged backgrounds with an exceptional career-focused education and a range of support services.
Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, who founded the school in 1909, MHS has the resources to ensure that both students and staff have everything they need to thrive.
The school is now hiring married couples to become flex houseparents. As flex houseparents, couples will reside in on-campus student homes and guide and nurture a group of approximately 8-12 students.
Responsibilities include driving, administering medication, budgeting, reporting, and providing a consistent family-like structure for students.
Couples will cover different student homes initially before being assigned to one specific home.
MHS offers a unique career path that requires consideration and commitment from both spouses.
Flex houseparents will work a schedule of nine days on followed by three days off, with personal time while students are at school included.
They will also receive relocation assistance, paid training, comprehensive benefits, and a total compensation package.
Qualifications include experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings, and a two-person job for couples who have been legally married for at least two years.
Additional requirements include valid U.S. driver's licenses, ability to become certified to drive student home vans, and comfort leading students in daily devotions and taking them to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services.
Both spouses must complete an individual employment application and demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are role models for students.
With a high school diploma or GED required and no more than three dependent children allowed to reside in the student home, this is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for the right couple.
