What are the responsibilities and job description for the Treatment Director position at Minnesota Department of Human Services?
Minnesota Specialty Health System (MSHS) in Brainerd is seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as Treatment Director. The Treatment Director to provides oversight and clinical supervision to the MSHS program staff by assuring client interventions reflect the expressed goals of the clients and accurate assessment of the client’s strengths and needs.
Job duties include:
- Provide supervision and oversight to program staff regarding the plan and delivery of treatment for individuals with severe mental illness and potential substance use disorders.
- Develop and disseminate assessment and treatment tools including functional assessment, treatment planning and intervention strategies, and assesses clinical training needs for staff.
- Collaborate with the Site Administrator/Program director on providing clinical consultation on program design, admissions, discharges, utilization management, clinical policies and procedures.
- Exercise supervisory authority so that employees effectively perform assigned duties and achieve annual objectives which includes adherence to applicable labor agreement, plan requirements and statewide employer policies.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet the requirements for a Mental Health Professional as defined in MN Statute 245I.04, subdivision 2 and must meet the following criteria:
- Have a Master’s degree or Doctorate in psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related field; AND
- Be licensed by the State of Minnesota as an independent behavioral health professional (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR be licensed as an independent clinical behavioral health professional in another state with the ability to obtain Minnesota licensure with three (3) months from date of hire; AND
- Certification to provide supervision for clinical trainees towards independent licensure or eligible to obtain certification with 6 months of hire ; AND
- Have two (2) years of clinical supervisory experience with mental health and/or substance use treatment or assessment OR three (3) years professional-level clinical experience with mental health and/or substance use treatment or assessment.
*** Note: Completion of leadership development program such as L4, Emerging Leaders Institute, etc. will substitute for 1 year of professional – level clinical experience. ***
*Candidates who are not board approved supervisors and are hired to obtain certification within 6 months of hire will be hired under a provisional appointment.
