About the Role
MIRACORP, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Communications Specialist to support internal and external communications for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID) and Nuclear Energy (DOE-NE) programs. This role develops and manages communication products-including presentations, talking points, white papers, newsletters, and web content-to ensure clear, accurate, and consistent messaging across federal audiences. The Communications Specialist ensures all materials meet DOE standards and effectively convey program objectives to diverse stakeholders.

Essential Functions
Content Development & Writing
- Draft, edit, and finalize articles, letters, talking points, and official documents
- Develop and coordinate presentations, briefing materials, and communication products
- Prepare reports and written materials tailored to various audiences
Communications & Outreach Support
- Support newsletters, public relations efforts, and outreach activities
- Conduct research to inform communication strategies and messaging
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging
Digital & Web Content Management
- Update and maintain web content and digital communication materials
- Ensure all content aligns with DOE communication guidelines and plain-language standards
Project Coordination & Quality Assurance
- Track communication tasks, deadlines, and deliverables
- Review materials for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with federal style guides
- Support communication planning and coordination across DOE-ID and DOE-NE programs
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, English, or related field and 3 years of relevant experience OR Associate’s degree and 5 years OR 7 years of direct experience
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Experience creating content for presentations, web, and reports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and presentation software
- Familiarity with federal communication guidelines and plain-language standards
- Experience supporting DOE or other federal agencies
- Knowledge of federal style guides and branding requirements
- Experience with digital content management systems or web publishing tools
