ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR FINANCIAL AID DELIVERY, Student Financial Services (SFS), to ensure access and affordability for MIT students and families. Will oversee the annual financial aid delivery process of external funds to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students; administer the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Loan, and Federal Work-Study Programs; and coordinate student employment for the Institute. Will build a strong, integrated service approach for the delivery of external financial aid from federal, state, and private sources; provide direction to SFS staff responsible for certifying, originating, disbursing, and reconciling external financial aid funds; review, update, and document written policies, procedures, and practices relating to financial aid delivery and student employment; identify innovations that maximize organizational resources and improve the customer experience; and participate in determining financial aid eligibility by serving as a peer reviewer.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least seven years’ financial aid experience at a higher education institution; expert-level knowledge of the financial aid application, awarding, and delivery processes; direct experience with federal and institutional need analysis methodologies; federal grant and loan management experience, including expert-level knowledge of federal legislation and regulations; proficiency using student information systems (PowerFAIDS preferred); interest in and ability to master new information systems; a strong bias for action; proven history of working effectively in a collaborative role in a highly matrixed management environment; commitment to continuous process improvement; and excellent customer service, communication, and presentation skills. Must be able to analyze and interpret complex and multifaceted situations, take full ownership for driving projects, manage resources efficiently, and effectively delegate and prioritize.
