What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Operator position at Neighborhood Health Center of WNY Inc?
Neighborhood Health Center (NHC) is GROWING and actively seeking a Pharmacy Operator. The Pharmacy Operator will have duties that include, but are not limited to, answering pharmacy phone calls, taking requests for refills and deliveries and ensuring accurate patient data is in EHR. For more than 30 years, NHC has delivered quality healthcare to the communities we serve.
Neighborhood Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). FQHCs are required to comply with the governor's recent mandate requiring hospital and nursing home workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination if an offer of employment is made. The vaccine mandate applies to all personnel employed or affiliated with a covered entity, including volunteers and students. Only a limited medical exemption remains for qualifying individuals.
Responsibilities:
- Answers telephone in a polite and professional manner
- Takes requests for prescription refills and deliveries. Triages other calls as necessary
- Responsible for answering inbound calls and maintaining a response rate in accordance with organizational standards
- Effectively balances speed and quality of call to maintain phone efficiency on a day to day basis.
- Is familiar with all aspects of pharmacy workflow and operations
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of pharmacy services (including home delivery, 2-way text messaging, automatic refills, and RefillQuick/online refills) and regularly offers these services to patients
- Works closely with the other pharmacy employees and staff of Neighborhood Health Center
- Communicates with both pharmacy and clinical staff via EHR messaging or telephone to request prescription refills and to ensure patient needs are met
- Assures all messages are succinct and contain complete and accurate data
- Responsible for verification of all patient information. Corrects and updates patient information in the computer system when needed
- Sets up home delivery of prescriptions upon patient request using delivery vendor software
- Performs data entry, including patient demographics, medication information and directions on patient profile in computerized database
- Resolves third party rejects on prescription claims when needed
- Processes prescription refill as well as new prescriptions to help balance workload of pharmacy team when not actively engaged in patient phone calls
- Processes confidential information and handles such information in a professional manner in accordance with both state and federal laws, as well as policies implemented by NHC
- Maintains a clean and neat work area including, but not limited to, general cleaning and light maintenance
- Arrives on time to work and prepared to start at time of scheduled shift
Requirements:
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent
- CPR certification required and must be maintained
- Counting accuracy with attention to detail and ability to type 30 wpm
- Proficient with computers and comfortable learning new programs
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. A second language of Spanish preferred

Salary : $31,800 - $40,300
