In this role, you can have an immediate impact on the opportunities to share the New College stories, achievements and events with the media and key influencers. Join a team of experienced communications and marketing professionals who are game-changers in higher education through their innovative and strategic messaging.
Specific Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:
External: Public Relations/Media/News
- Write news releases, alerts and outreach as assigned.
- Post releases, events and media coverage, as well as content, to New College website, as needed.
- Post releases to national news wire and coordinate coverage from these releases.
- Manage and facilitate press requests including (but limited to) interview scheduling and organizing media training if needed, per the College’s media relations established processes.
- Build and maintain an active media relations list and facilitate engagement with these media outlets.
- Review news clippings/coverage and develop weekly report; establish and maintain a digital press report library.
- Work with other Campus units to coordinate news releases and media coverage for their specific initiatives.
- Create and manage the distribution of hometown news releases.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years relevant experience. News release and article writing/editing experience needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a busy media office.
Additional Information
Excellent communication, customer-service, reasoning, analytical and computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel). Strong attention to detail. Flexibility, enthusiasm and a willingness to be part of a fast-paced creative Communications and Marketing team.
Will handle any travel planning as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
