Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Pre-Award services, the Research Administrator provides an essential range of services to assist in New Jersey Institute of Technology's research mission.

Essential Functions:
The duties of the Research Administrator may include but will not be limited to:
- Supporting faculty with the develop of grant proposals through collaboration and coordinating the setup of incoming awards.
- Document and manage a variety of contracts in support of research work, and leverage a compilation of administrative processes related to grants (e.g., subrecipient monitoring).
- Proposal support can entail balancing a project budget in accordance with negotiated rates, financial commitments, and other monetary intricacies.
- The Research Administrator will work with the grant accountants and assistant directors in the Office of Research to maintain a wide portfolio of grant initiatives.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Able to articulate and assess performance through preferred reporting methodologies and maintain consistent documentation procedures.
- Able to apply the knowledge they acquire of various grant management systems in efforts to train the faculty and staff they support to simplify their supplemental duties.
- Able to work with typical Microsoft Office suite solutions like Word and Excel or their Google Suite alternatives.
- Aptitude for learning and utilizing IT systems is preferred as most of NJIT's desk procedures are maintained through digital means.
- Knowledge of databases and web technologies would be a plus to supplement reporting efforts and consistency of online documentation.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
