Job Summary
The education center faculty shall:
Provide content or facilitate learning which meets the goals and objectives of the course.
Participate in the evaluation of student progress in the three learning domains (cognitive,
psychomotor, affective) Participate in the evaluation of education center instructional
quality. Function in cooperation with the education center director and medical director. In
each location where students are assigned for didactic or clinical instruction or supervised
practice, there shall be instructional faculty designated to coordinate supervision and provide
frequent assessments of the student's progress in achieving acceptable program
requirements.
Nature of Work

Performs other functions as required or assigned. Also complies with all Policies and
Standards.
Summary of Core Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate ability to relate and work effectively with students, peers and the
public.
• Commit to the mission and objectives of New River Community and Technical
College.
• Meet the academic demands of the program.
• Provide own transportation and be punctual and regular in attendance.
• Travel to various campus locations to teach, including evenings and weekends.
• Be accessible and responsive to students through e-mail, phone, or scheduled office
hours or at other times.
• Meet classes as scheduled.
• Evaluate student work and maintain accurate records.
• Provide students with constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback in a
timely manner.
• Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or
releasing such information except within recognized limits.
• Demonstrate integrity and positive interpersonal and communication skills.
Communicate and collaborate with dean, agency training officer, and director.
Skills:
• Demonstrated proficiency in the technical area of expertise.
• Well versed in current teaching trends, techniques, resources, and technology for
both onsite and virtual learning, as necessary.
Education and Requirements (*WVOEMS Requirements)
Education
High School Diploma - Required
Successful completion of WVOEMS approved education methodology course, or equivalent professional higher education - Required
Successful completion of sixteen (16) hours student teaching experience supervised by a Master Instructor or equivalent professional higher education supervision and evaluation - Required
Successful completion of initial and ongoing instructor evaluation by WVOEMS or equivalent professional higher education supervision and evaluation - Required
Completion of required continuing education for EMS instructors - Required
Certification
Current WVOEMS EMT or higher (Example: AEMT, Paramedic) Required
Other Requirements
Meet requirements of sponsoring educational institution (degree level) Required
Other criteria as established by the Commissioner (includes policy updates) Required
Experience (*WVOEMS Requirements)
In addition to the knowledge/education, the following related work experience is typically required for this position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be acceptable.
Two years teaching experience in higher education (New River CTC) - Preferred
Four years field experience as EMT or higher (WVOEMS Requirement) - Required
Experience utilizing technology including Microsoft Word and other software programs - Required
