Position Purpose
The classroom instructor supports the Notre Dame Leadership Team in creating a student-centered, technology and academically strong learning environments. The position requires instructors to be innovative, engaging, and capable of motivating students. The incumbent needs to encompasses a wide range of programs, assignments, and projects, while maintaining reports, databases, and duties relating to the school objectives for student learning and Integral Student Outcomes (ISO). This position reports directly to the Principal, to the Assistant Principal’s and Curriculum Director.
Essential Job Functions
- Align course content with established curriculum and formulate clear and achievable learning objectives for students.
- Establish structured innovative learning environments which engage students while meeting accepted classroom management practices.
- Implement prescribed instructional planning to maximize the effectiveness of block scheduling in meeting stated learning objectives.
- Creatively integrate the culture of technology/innovative platform in and out of the classroom.
- Collaborate across grade-level curriculum.
- Identify and utilize data to measure the degree to which learning objectives are met.
- Communicate student progress and collaborate with parents.
- Plan lessons in specific subjects and present them to students using creative teaching techniques in engaging ways daily.
- Assess the weaknesses, strengths and abilities of every student each week and address them appropriately.
- Maintain obvious rules for a disciplined classroom that still allows students to feel comfortable asking questions and brainstorming.
- Adapt lesson plans when class sizes change or students are struggling with a particularly difficult concept.
- Report to Curriculum Director or Administration regarding concepts you feel are or are not working.
- Understand the standardized state tests and adequately prepare students to pass them.
Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Competencies
- Bachelors Degree
- Have or working on single subject credential in related field
- Ability to create student-centered learning environments
- Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining collegial working relationships
- Demonstrated ability and skill in writing
- Demonstrated ability to compose and deliver compelling and engaging presentations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters
- Proficiency in using Apple products including iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Apple TV
- Proficiency in using Apple apps, App Store, Apple Classroom and all other applicable apps.
- Collaborate with AP’s in the implementation of school standards for student accountability regarding dress, academic preparedness, and personal behavior;
- Attend all scheduled meetings and events such as in-services, retreats, school site meetings, and relevant Diocesan meetings and workshops.
- Collaborate with Departments and Directors as necessary to achieve culture objectives.
Special Conditions of Employment
- Salaried Exempt
- Work hours are from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday
- Evening and week-end hours will be required
- Hours will vary during peak seasons
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed
