Responsibilities
- Set up new staff with appropriate user accounts, email addresses, and access to necessary systems and applications.
- Provide timely and effective technical support to all staff members, including troubleshooting hardware, software, network, printing and connectivity issues.
- Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests.
- Monitors technical resources for troubleshooting, diagnosis, resolutions of networked, multi-tiered, mainframe computer operations and data communication.
- Manages data platforms and systems and provides custom operational reports as needed.
- Schedules periodic performance efficiency checks for all operating technical systems.
- Troubleshoots New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) data operation systems.
- Performs complex functions in maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing or replacing computer components in standalone and/or network (LAN) environment.
- Maintains Local Area Network (LAN) at the D75 Superintendent’s office, including patching at IDF and MDFs, as necessary.
- Maintains Claris FileMaker servers and is responsible for FileMaker application deployment onto user workstations.
- Maintains EskerFax server and all copy machines.
- Manages Windows Print server for D75 Superintendent’s office.
- Supervises the installation of computers and instructional programs, as required.
- Installs, configures, maintains, and upgrades computers, mobile devices, printers, and related peripherals.
- Provides technical supervision and serves as technical resource person in the diagnosis and correction of computer and peripheral hardware problems.
- Provides failure analysis in the event of systems failure in a complex computer environment which includes mainframes and a large communications network.
- Serves as IDMS Manager responsible for provision of access to various NYCPS systems; ex. FAMIS; Personnel/Payroll, CPS, STARS.
- Orders and maintains computer hardware and inventory for the D75 Superintendent’s Office.
- Coordinates the integration of hardware from outside vendors.
- Supports all D75 central officeD75 Office and Field Support Team staff with computer technology, resolving any technological issues, including re-imaging of hardware as necessary.
- Maintains D75 Active Directory (AD) distribution lists and group memberships.
- Serves as point of contact with DIIT with respect to any technology tickets entered for the D75 Superintendent’s Office and resolves issues.
- Supports D75 Administrative Offices with respect to technology issues and assists schools with Device Hub.
Minimum
- A certificate from an accredited technical school (approximately 675 hours) with a specialization in computer operations, and two years of satisfactory full-time experience, acquired within the last eight years, working on large-scale mainframe computer operations or mainframe data communication networks; or
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time experience, acquired within the last eight years, as described in "1" above; or
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience, acquired within the last eight years, as described in "1" above; or
- A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least two years of full-time experience, acquired within the last eight years, as described in "1" above.
- Familiar with the software and hardware used by NYCPS.
- Familiar with the NYCPS network operating system.
- Knowledgeable use of state-of-the-art test instruments and equipment.
- Experience managing local area network infrastructure.
- Experience in PowerShell.
- Experience providing computer hardware and technical support.
- Successful experience working in a customer service environment.
