What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career Services Specialist I position at Ogden-Weber Technical College?
As a key member of our team, you'll play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students and visitors. Responsibilities include helping students access computers and resources, answering questions, greeting guests, providing directions, monitoring calendars and appointments, responding to emails and calls, and assisting with office management, job postings, and other tasks. You’ll support the Success Center staff in delivering outstanding service to students and faculty every day. This position reports to the Manager of Student Access and Success.
- Serve as an administrative assistant, responsible for major clerical assignments including, but not limited to, data tracking and entry, assembling event materials and assisting with event preparation.
- Maintain and update the student computer desktops and documents.
- Communicate professionally with employers that want to partner with the college to fill open positions.
- Promote student success events that are specific to the Student Success Center including employer visits, workshops, and other activities, on campus and through social media pages.
- Track student job interests, employer connections, and job availability through spreadsheets.
- Assist in setting up appointments for students with Career Services Specialists and helping with any basic information needed to assist students.
- Monitor front desk and student check-ins, answer basic questions, and direct students to different areas of the campus.
- Help maintain the student pantry and work with AVP for College Advancement to make sure items are available.
- Assist students with updating and printing professional resumes and conducting basic job searches.
- Create and maintain various documents, flyers, spreadsheets, and reports for the Student Success Center.
- Be a model for professional behavior that will be expected of students in the workplace.
- Help foster a campus climate that respects and values everyone and provides all students with an equal opportunity for academic success.
- The employee will perform other duties assigned by management.
- Must be proficient with computers, Microsoft Office, and Windows operating systems.
- One (1) year of customer service experience or equivalent combination of education and/or working experience in a related field (Customer Service, Business, Communication, Sales, Marketing).
- High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Ability to develop effective, collaborative relationships.?

Physical Requirements:
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, etc.
- Typically, this work will be performed on site at the main campus between the hours of 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Fridays. Hours subject to change.?
- Must be able to travel between assigned campus locations on a regular basis.
- Consistent attendance is essential to fulfilling the responsibilities of the role and maintaining a productive work environment.?

9:00am - 3:30pm
