What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Trainer position at OLD COLONY YMCA?
Program/Department Responsibilities
- Design a personal training program based on the member’s needs and goals.
- Provide safe, motivational instruction to each client.
- Design a safe, effective workout grounded in acceptable exercise techniques, practicing only within the scope of education and knowledge trainer possesses.
- Maintain accurate health screening records.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Advise clients on good nutrition.
- Supervision of Personnel

- Fiscal Responsibilities
- Follow the Old Colony Y accounting policies and procedures in regards to purchasing, payroll, etc.
- Follow budgeted guidelines for the program.
- Reach monthly goals set by the Fitness Director
- Facility/Housekeeping Responsibilities
- Monitor cleanliness of all training facilities.
- Report any maintenance problems with equipment or fitness center immediately to the Fitness Director (or direct supervisor).
- Ensure that clean towels and full bottles of disinfectant are available for your client to use on the equipment.
- Inter-Divisional/Community/Volunteer Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, courteous service to all members, clients, volunteers and staff of the Y.
- Contribute to a positive work environment by illustrating pride in job, enthusiasm and cooperation with co-workers.
- Participate with volunteer opportunities such as: Member Appreciation Day, Health Fairs and other YMCA sponsored community events.
- Participate in Association program related activities such as Program Training Conferences.
