Fund Overview
ONE Bow River National Defense Fund (“OBR‑NDF”) is a $500 million SBICCT‑licensed private‑equity vehicle headquartered in Colorado. We acquire controlling interests in U.S. lower‑middle‑market companies that deliver mission‑critical technologies and services to the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Tier‑1 primes. Core focus areas include C5ISR, secure communications, data analytics, autonomy, Artificial Intelligence, and other critical technology areas.
Position Summary
Associates are full‑cycle investors who own the analytical engine of the deal team. You will evaluate new platforms and add‑ons, drive diligence and modeling, support value‑creation initiatives post‑close, and prepare materials for the investment committee and limited partners.
Key Responsibilities
Origination & Screening
- Build target lists from DoD contract award databases, SBIR cohorts, and prime‑contractor suppliers.
- Lead introductory founder calls and draft one‑page teasers for new opportunities.
Underwriting & Modeling
- Construct three‑statement, LBO, and contract‑level revenue models with scenario analysis.
- Assess contract and customer exposure, Small business status, FAR and Non-FAR based contracting implications
Diligence Management
- Coordinate Third Party QoE, CFIUS/ITAR, cybersecurity (CMMC), and IP counsel workstreams.
- Manage virtual data room, synthesize red‑flag findings, and track closing checklists.
Portfolio Value Creation
- Monitor KPIs and contract‑capture metrics; assist management with FAR‑compliant pricing.
- Support facility‑clearance expansions and SBA compliance initiatives.
Reporting & Compliance
- Draft investment‑committee memos, quarterly valuation memos, and newsletters to Limited Partners
- Contribute to LP updates, annual audit, and lender reporting packages.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
- 2 years in investment banking and 2 years in private equity with aerospace & defense focus.
- Advanced Excel, strong financial modeling and valuation skills
- Understanding of private equity-related terms and concepts
- Strong understanding of applied investment and valuation analysis
- Written and oral communication skills
- Critical thinking ability and demonstrated leadership experience
- Collaborative and proactive approach to working in a team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Track record of personal accomplishments
Work Authorization & Employment Eligibility

Work Environment
- This job operates in a corporate office environment
- Expectations are that this role will be primarily in the office (Colorado Springs) (i.e., not remote)

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This full-time salary (overtime exempt) position requires at least 40 hours of work per week. Business operations are Monday through Friday
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary $100,000–$125,000 plus annual discretionary bonus and carried‑interest participation. Years of experience and years in a similar role, among other factors, will be used to determine the actual salary.
