BROAD FUNCTION
The part-time Student Engagement Specialist will provide direct support to College Credit Now (CCN) students, focusing on academic success, college readiness, and seamless transition to post-secondary education. The position requires collaboration with OCC departments, high school partners, and families to ensure a high-quality student experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide individualized support to CCN students, with a focus on academic success, future planning, career exploration and post-secondary readiness.
Facilitate early college and career exploration activities that align with OCC's academic offerings and workforce pathways.
Act as a liaison between CCN students and OCC offices (i.e. Admissions, Financial Aid, Learning Center, Library, Student Coach & Advising Network, and Career & Transfer Services).
Maintain a consistent presence within partner high schools to provide in-person guidance and support.
Other related duties as assigned to support program goals and student success.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalency.
Experience working with high school and/or college students in an advising, coaching, or student support role.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including students, families, school personnel, and higher education professionals.
Ability to travel to partner school districts throughout Central New York.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency.
Knowledge of dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, or early college programming.
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops, lead classroom visits, family information sessions, and district events about college and career readiness.
Experience providing individualized support, advising, or coaching in an academic setting.
Ability to build relationships with students, families, school personnel, and college staff/faculty; strong verbal and written communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated reliability, adaptability, and strong attention to detail with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently or past of a diverse team.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel as required.
