What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Chaplain 4330 position at Onslow County?
As a volunteer EMS Chaplain, you will provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and EMS personnel during emergency situations and times of crisis. You will work closely with EMS teams to provide support before, during, and after emergency responses. The Chaplain must be alert and sensitive to the needs of patients, providers, and their families. The Chaplain Corps does not replace the home church Pastor and will support those families in contacting their local church, Pastor, Clergy, Pastor, Priest, etc. The Chaplain must provide service to any individual regardless of one's race, ethnicity, orientation, sex, or religion. Your role will be integral in helping individuals cope with trauma, grief, and loss, while also fostering resilience and well-being within the EMS community.
- Provides spiritual and emotional care to patients, families, and EMS personnel at the scene of emergencies.
- Offers compassionate listening, counseling, and guidance to individuals experiencing trauma, grief, or crisis.
- Conducts crisis interventions and debriefings for EMS teams following critical incidents.
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to ethical standards in all interactions and interventions.
- Documents patient interactions and interventions accurately and in accordance with organizational policies.
- Participates in onboarding and quarterly meetings.
- Affirms the religious and spiritual freedom of all persons and refrains from imposing doctrinal positions or spiritual practices on persons whom they encounter in their professional role as chaplain.
- Must be available during scheduled times during agency operating hours or as needs arise.
- Commits to serving two 12-hour shifts per month.
- Bachelor’s degree in religious studies, social work, psychology, counseling, pastoral education, or related field
- Must be an ordained clergy member with an endorsement from either their church or an ecclesiastical endorsing agent.
- Maintains close ties with own denomination ensuring current religious endorsement and attends meetings called by the denomination to maintain this standing.
- Valid Driver's License
- Completes an Individual and Group Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) course within a year of appointment.
