Panhandle Health District is seeking a full-time (32hrs/wk.) WIC Customer Service Representative 2 in Hayden, Idaho. As a WIC CSR2 at Panhandle Health District, you will perform essential paraprofessional clinical duties that support the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

Job Summary

This role involves maintaining accurate records, guiding clients through health and community programs, and offering personalized nutrition counseling based on lab results and growth measurements. You will interview clients to gather health and dietary information, assign appropriate nutrition packages, document client details, and refer them to other programs as needed. A strong understanding of WIC food packages, referral programs, formulary, and breastfeeding promotion activities is required.

Additional responsibilities include obtaining lab samples, interpreting growth measurements, scheduling appointments, answering calls, and performing receptionist duties. You will also engage in ongoing education and community outreach to expand your knowledge of public health and nutrition, ensuring you provide compassionate, effective support to diverse populations.

Qualifications and Proficiencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Idaho driver's license
  • 1-year customer service experience (preferred)
  • Skilled in written and oral communications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, MS Teams, and Excel.
  • Comfortable learning new computer systems such as WISPr, etc.
  • Experience with conducting phone and face-to-face interactions
  • Previous participation in the WIC program or experience breastfeeding is a plus
  • Complete the online WIC training within six (6) months of employment.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing education and training opportunities related to WIC, nutrition, and public health
  • Able to develop efficiency and time management practices to adhere to scheduling expectations and guidelines to optimize work balance.
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (IS)100, 700 and Public Health Ready 101 within six (6) months of employment.

Physical Requirements:

Due to the need for all Health Department personnel to respond to public health emergencies, the employee must be assessed for his/her ability to meet the physical demands of performing the following activities:

  • Engage in the following movements: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, and writing and repetitive motions.
  • Exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to communicate with others effectively in person and over the phone.
  • Visual ability must be sufficient to read typewritten documents, computer screens, and drive a car.
